Acne, Acne Scars
Acne is common and can be debilitating. It develops around hair follicles with excessive sebum production which can lead to comedone formation which is often the first step. Subsequently a host of other factors, including bacteria, and host immune response can trigger additional inflammatory response, which can lead to pustule development and scarring. In a small portion of patients, with nodulocystic type acne, the more conventional treatment options may not work well, and they may require systemic therapeutic option.
We provide thorough assessment, advice in skin care products, request necessary tests to exclude possible internal causes, and then provide a wide variety of treatment options including prescription medicines, wide variety of Energy-Based Devices (EBD), or Photodynamic therapy (PDT).
Acne scars are graded and subtyped, although, there are mixed varieties in each case, in most clinical cases. Our approach to acne scarring is to utilise multi-modality approach, to effectively manage this wide variety of acne scar subtypes. These modalities include fully ablative, coagulative, and regenerative technics which have been tried, tested, and clinically proven.
